Faye Wong - fav album
that's her, when she first started her singing career in HK. she sang a few K songs, acted in a few TVB HK drama. then she disappeared to NY for a while. when she returned. she turns into the indie diva.
shi wan ge wei shen me-1 million of doubts.
luv this cover, grunge look, the apple she's holding makes the whole image so philosophical. the songs in there is pretty poppy, with some cover as well.
luv this cover the most. very raw, very her, very indie , just like the songs in there. very mainland china band sound.
hu si luan xiang - think alot and think unnecessary.
nice one, if you can read chinese, the strokes are missing on purpose. is like you are running on a train of thoughts, but some of the minor parts of it went missing, however it won't disturb the flow of your thought. that's how i decipher it.
yu yan - fable. another indie album, you won't like it at the first time. the song goes by a sequence, you must listen to all at one time. is a story within the songs. it works like a red wine. the more aging the better.
words on the street say that she will no longer be singing or cutting any new album. how sad could that be? i seriouly hope that it is just a rumour. but looking at the quality of HK music nowadays, i feel good for her not being part of the rotten eggs.

what's your dunk ?

i'm a newbie in the street-wear scene. guess my style and my outlook will not look so right in it. nevermind, that's just an introduction that i was trying to make.
it all started on a fine saturday evening. i was there pretty on-time. 8.15pm i was signing my way at the guest-registration booth, immediately followed by a photography session with the poster above as your background. (that moment i felt a bit uneasy cause i'm not a camera person, i can't pose or smile or do any kind of that thing).
bond is a very laid-back and funny places (where else could you find a dj console right inside of the bar, with those sink and basin nearby) there are lotsa big sofa, and everything is in white.
only about 20% of the people was there when i made my way up. so i layan myself with free flow of whiskey coke and some finger food. and looking around the display of the good and classic AF1. i've fallen for the croc skin and the tuxedo. they were showing the documentary on AF1. nice one, especially those songs in there.
it started around nine. with dj point blanc mc-ing a few tracks titled 'kl leng chai' and 'ipoh mari' (he wrote the lyrics for it). followed by the presentation of the customized AF1. each and every designer will tell why they designed the AF1 in such a way. i can't really recall anything they said because was a bit tipsy by then. after that is the bidding for the croc and snake skin AF1.
then it was almost the end of the event, it ended pretty early at about 10.30pm. people started leaving to the second round for MASH / blink. i made my way there as well knowing that friends were there already. thank god the two places are so nearby. friend asked if wanna go for after party at Westin hotel for Boys II Men - argh ! don't tell me about it. i was supposed to go for their concert on Friday, but ... the moral of the story is, never ask a busy & agency friend for concert. you will end up in disappointment. back to the after party, i wasn't too keen to go, so i said no, and it started quite early (at 1am) although it says after party.
but later on monday i was told that it was not so great. boys II men is not that friendly to mingle around . guess they were tired after singing 2 nights in a row.
MASH - everything from franz ferdinand to nelly furtado , semua rojak to the max.
Bongolia - was there during the earlier part. very empty . music still good nonetheless.
i would say a good night out !
i was thinking of where to get a nice pair of AF1 other than in KL .
damn regretted cause i didn't check it out while in taipei, too busy with onitsuka tiger that time. heh.
any heads up ?
my apology - Triple 6 Poser
my previous post on the 80's night mentioned that David is the lead singer.
my old soul is getting older i guess.
is Eddy actually!
MY BAD, MY BAD.

rock n roll week again

then i went for this. another kick-ass gig. smaller venue but every single person there is drenched with rock, from their blood the the skin-hair. finding a parking space in that area is nightmare. thank god i was there early, so i didn't really miss anything.
1. every fallen thurs - a band with all young chinese blood. very aussie kinda dressing. the lead singer (only realised that he used to be my ex-colleague) told me that this is their time playing at Jam Asia. they are pretty new in the scene in fact. their songs are pretty good.
2. triple 6 poser - very 'seasoned' looking kinda band. long straight hair and dreadlocks, the lead singer's (David) voice is kinda powerful. i like a song which talks about a job that sucks, the title of the song is THE DEVIL WON'T GIVE ME A RAISE. fucking near to my heart wei. rock ! p/s: Henry well done, although you were abit hidden by standing at the side.
3. revenge - the highlight of the night. they wore the same t-shirt together with their fans (yes, they have lotsa supporter, whom will all group in front of the stage and shake their head violently with the rhythm). the lead singer looks abit like jack black, plump with a tummy. he can really scream !!! their songs are about how 'good' is the the government & sex. they pushed the night's climax to a brand new height !
4. stonebay - good voice and cute face : that's how i describe the lead singer. their songs are pretty good, not too blastful , just nice.
5. Y2K - very identical band - you won't forget them once you've seen their gig - cause all the 3 band members will cover their face with some kinda mask while they are performing. and they will do alot of talking , just like We Are Scientist. they will talk alot like jokes, music or even current affairs after each and every song. they didn't sing alot of their own song that night, mostly cover songs.
it was a 80's night, so all the bands did sing a few identical songs of the 80's. e.g. 'every breath you take' 'hero' , etc etc. i was told that they will organise more themed gig on every Friday or even Saturday. so happy to hear that, local indie music scene needs more gig, in order to produce more quality music and audiences.
i know is still a long way to go.
but at least it is getting started !
rock on !
rock n roll week

random
i've always love this painting. i feel like i'm the man sitting alone near the window. sinking into deep thoughts. another monday , mellow monday.
they said when you had a wonderful weekend, your monday will be an energetic one.
is a myth. is not true. i'm so sleepy that i could just go hibernating for a month.
KL should bring in more quality gig like Jens.
KL should have more quality hip hop dj. not those who repeat the radio commercial tracks twice within a 2 hrs' set. not those who can't even control the flow of the music. you can't just drop a new track which you wanna promote without taking into considerations whether it fits the current flow of the set. i don't wanna mention which crappy club is that. but i always believe this.
crappy dj = crappy crowd. and i don't wanna be in that crowd again.
enough ranting. heh.
my weekend was still good. thanks to jens. didn't expect his performance to be so short though. the opening act by Laila's Lounge was awesome too. i began to see MORE lights in local indie music scene.
You are the light (by which I travel into this and that)
Yeah I got busted
So I used my one phone call
To dedicateA song to you on the radio
Yeah I got busted
In custody
I imagined our melody
Being played on a grand piano
I saw your face in front of me
It was perfect clarity
I saw a light in the end of the tunnel
And it was you
Chorus:Cause you are the light by which I travel into this and that
You are the light You are the light by which I travel into this and that
Yeah I got busted
I painted a dirty word on your old mans Mercedes-Benz
Cause he told me to do it
Yeah I got busted
But soon they released me cause the cops were sad
And they didnt know how to prove it
OohI saw your face in front of me
It was perfect clarity
I saw a light in the end of the tunnel
And it was you
Chorus:Cause you are the light by which I travel into this and that
You are the lightYou are the light by which I travel into this and that
It sounds so obvious, so obvious
Why would anyone need a map or a compass?
Its so beautiful
To be guided by you
Cause you are the light
Chorus:You are the light by which I travel into this and that
You are the light
You are the light by which I travel into this and that
You are the light light light light
You are the light

Friday Thai flick
i would say i had a great Friday evening outing.
nothing glamourous.
just the right person and the right movie.
Tin Mine is a good flick. touches your heart kinda movie.
you don't see any fancy clothings, fancy set-up or pretty boys / gals.
the heart of the story is very humane.
with a touch of humour.
the simpler the core subject of a movie.
the harder is to make it into a great movie.
but i think Jira Maligool did it. flawlessly.
it is a semi-autobiographical of Ajin Panjaban of his account of growing up in the southern thailand during post WW2.
he learn the best lesson in his life not by attending university but by working in the tin mine.
2 funny incidents that happen yesterday.
both took place in restaurants.
Dragon-I in The Curve.
i have a thing for this particular dish.
i thought i could get my fix for lunch.
2 minutes after ordering. the same waitress came and told me that the chef said this:
we did not make that dish very well today, so we decided not to sell it. (this is the exact lines she told me).
my first thought was : Potong Stim habis ! (loose translation: excitement turn cold instantly)
then i kinda respect their decision.
at least they keep their food control & standard in place.
Chilis One Utama New wing.
after ordering food and stuff. the waitress turned and asked me:
miss, do you smoke ? i said no.
then she turned and look at my friend who is getting his ciggy fix.
we were dazed and confused.
she explained these:
we have to ask customers if we think they are below 18 not to smoke and drink.
we were like : WHAT ? BELOW 18 ? BOTH OF US ?
we then joked with her by saying, not even drinking water ?
she smiled and then walked away.
we did some self-study after she left. i suspected is our dressing and hairstyle.
but hey, we are the funky 20 something kinda dressing & hairstyle.
being below 18 is so boring : financially-dependent, exams, home work, etc etc
i am happy with what i'm now. at least now.

finally
1. finally i'm back to write some stuff here
2. finally the internet connection allows me to post some stuff here. but i still couldn't P2P for cool choons. that is really annoying and making life a lil bit more meaningless. argh !
3. finally after 2 days of sufferings, i'm now as healthy as a horse ! i've a lil phobia over Ribena and bread nonetheless.
4. finally i got over the bkk blues a lil, i will never get over it. never. unless i'm there physically.
5. finally JENS LEKMAN is here, next Saturday !!! live at Little Havana.
6. finally Beastie Boys made it here !
7. finally Muse is here, least excited over it among the former two.
8. finally i get my fat ass up to play some sports. heh.
9. finally . ok, not finally but hey i cut my hair again. i am quite satisfied about it, albeit i'm not initially, especially the moment it was completed. i need another few more months to get the Bob back. i'll just have to be patient.
10. finally some Thai movie in the GSC international screen. must catch - Tin Mine.
11. finally i could get rid of my shopping habits here in KL. because i've been to the coolest mall in bkk. i don't mean to be comparative. but the passion to shop here really have died. totally.
12. finally Air Asia throw out some free tickets. still keeping my fingers crossed. and crossed again.
13. finally, finally i ran out of things to write.

there goes my Sunday
it is disasterous when you woke up on a fine sunday morning with the throat and nose running not in the right place !
can't even head out to get a 30% cheaper concert ticket.
was it dued to the bkk blues ?
or the virus has just gotten better and bolder after returning from bkk (i've been having the viruses even before going there)
i've been sleeping and waking up and taking medicine.
head is kinda heavy now.
another round of medicine to kick things off.
hope i get better tomorrow, it will be another terrible monday.
cheers everyone ! and to my health.
