Muse world tour '07 - are you asphyxiated ?

kicked off on 25th feb 8pm
it was a fine sunday, kinda warm weather, i kinda lay low on the night before to reserve my 'battery' for the gig. heh. the ticket says starts at 8pm, i manage to arrive at 7pm. the stadium was already flooded with tonnes of skinny youngsters in black tight t-shirt and skinny black jeans. and lotsa stalls selling Muse t-shirt, in some dunnowhat kinda design, simply cut and paste the logo, tour dates and venue. etc etc. and some fake backstage pass for sale. WTF ? alright, pass that. let's fast forward to a few hours to the concert. it only started around 8.45pm. out of a sudden the whole stadium turned pitch dark and the drum sound of 'knight of cydonia ' kicked in. fucking awesome. i somehow or rather guessed so that that will be the first song, true enough. matt was kinda not steady with his vocals during the first few lines. but after that he was doing his shit. HE IS ONE HELL OF A ROCK STAR ! guitar and piano are like his second skin. he breathes through them ! piece of cake to him. not to mention his vocal ability. especially songs like 'knight of cydonia' , 'time is running ou' where you need to sing with all your emotions and strength at the right place. he manipulated his vocals flawlessly.
the middle part of the concert was infused with luv where matt serenaded a few of their slow songs with very minimal music. everyone started to wave with their lighter. for a glance it looked like fireflies near the river. what a scene to behold !
older songs were played towards the end of the concert. where people are pretty low on their energy level and can't really sing word-by-word for the whole song. the encore was pretty short. (but i was told it was longer than the one in sg). everything ended around 10.45pm, in a very smooth and disciplined manner.
i would rate 7.5/10

back to work, back to reality.......

in between dreams and reality, i thought i heard the song Something About Us by Daft Punk. fuck, that's my alarm sound !
DAMN, TIME TO WAKE UP FOR WORK !
i was told that today is a auspicious day to start work. 9th day of CNY. better still if you could wear red outfit to work. being a chinese me, i try to comply to that, in order to get more ONG, but i realised i don't have any new outfit in full red. so i grab a flowery top in green and red which i bought from Chatuchak (my heaven ! )
due to the extraordinary a-MUSE-ment last night plus the hokkien prayers thingy.
i think i can't work properly today.
half more hour and i'm gonna get my ass out of here.
holiday mood in the house.
lack of zzz in the house too.

Babel

21 grams and amores perros - better than this !
i manage to catch it, on the very last day.
coincidence and karma. that's what flashed to my mind after watching it. doesn't really live up to my expectations. especially the jap story. the ending really gets on my nerves.
brad pitt kinda did well, especially the last scene where he was crying at the public phone. gael doesn't have much scene in there, kinda disappointing. i think his mother did better than him. she lives inside her character. you don't really feel that she is actin. i think that's how acting should be.
i still prefer amores perros. way way better.

Stranger than Fiction

the hero is the period. a period could change someone's lives.
it's been a while i was so impressed with a movie, especially one that gets to show in the cinema here. it's the first time i see people actually clap their hands after a movie in the local cinema, and it was by a caucasian.
i've been anticipating this months ago. because of Dustin Hoffman.
it has a absolutely twisted plot. a character in the novel is actually a real guy in the real life. the novel is written by Emma Thompson. she narrated the whole movie, in her brit accent english. well done. will ferrell plays the character in her novel. a white-collar working guy who lives a routine and mundane life. his life changes when he started to hear voices of emma narrating about his life, and narrating about his soon-to-be death ! he began to get nervous, of death, knowing that you will die soon is as horrible as death itself. emma is a tragic writer, all the character in her novel has to die, no matter how. so when she was about to end the novel with the tragic ending and when she was about the put the final PERIOD in the novel. everything changes ! (i better not mention how the movie ends, in case anyone wanna watch it. heh)
among will, dustin, emma, maggie, queen, i think will and emma put up a good performance. yeah, dustin is just doing his stuff, nothing extraordinary due to his limited part in there. emma does the best. a writer who is facing writer's block, a typical 'sickness' among writers. she delivers what is beyond the character. bravo.
WILL CAN SING ! one of the best scene in the movie is when he serenades a cappella version of pop-punk song 'whole wide world'. for that few minutes i was fallen in luv with will.
i would give 7.5/10 for this flick.

Tokidoki, cookies, peanuts, movies etc on CNY

i got myself this print, in 'Dolce' size though. nice huh ;-p

wow, time flies, it is the 3rd day of CNY ( opps half an hour into the 4th day as well)
i forgot how many pineapple cookies (favourite !) , kuih-kapek, softdrink, prawn/fish crackers, peanut cookies, peanuts etc etc i've down so far.
1st day is always routine. visited my closest relatives. had a nice dinner with family. and went for movie (The Holiday) with cousins. it is a good flick although the whole movie is more about the story of cameron diaz and jude law (i prefer jack black and kate winslet).pretty Hollywood-style ending and love story. i would give 5.5/10.
2nd day was pretty on-my-own, which means lazing around and do nothing (favourite !) until later of the day i have to meet up with a sick guy ( as in he is really sick , haha) sorry if i make you anymore sick-er. it was a short meeting because at last he has to give in to the bacteria and viruses in him by retreating to home for a good rest. after that while loitering at the mall, instinctively i walked into the LeSportsac corner and guess what ! i saw some discount tag on the Tokidoki range. that's it la. there goes my purse, the damage wasn't that bad. and i think the bag is pretty practical and functional in many ways. i'm kinda obsessed with the key chain though.
today was pretty relaxing until calls came in for house visiting. i managed to cover 3 houses from PJ -Ampang - Kepong. suppose to cover another on in Cheras but was unsuccessful. i was pretty exhausted by the time i got home because i didn't really have a good sleep. but the journey to these 3 places was awesome. the flow of traffic is so smooth. you could actually count the number of cars on the road.
i wish to cover Stranger Than Fiction and Music and Lyrics tmrw. if the timing and everything runs well of course.

what tarot card are you ?

You are The Moon
Hope, expectation, Bright promises.
The Moon is a card of magic and mystery - when prominent you know that nothing is as it seems, particularly when it concerns relationships. All logic is thrown out the window.
The Moon is all about visions and illusions, madness, genius and poetry. This is a card that has to do with sleep, and so with both dreams and nightmares. It is a scary card in that it warns that there might be hidden enemies, tricks and falsehoods. But it should also be remembered that this is a card of great creativity, of powerful magic, primal feelings and intuition. You may be going through a time of emotional and mental trial; if you have any past mental problems, you must be vigilant in taking your medication but avoid drugs or alcohol, as abuse of either will cause them irreparable damage. This time however, can also result in great creativity, psychic powers, visions and insight. You can and should trust your intuition.
p/s: the result is kinda bizarre. i don't know what to say or how should i react to it. nonetheless, i always trust my INTUITION. but on the creative part, i still don't see it coming.

basically i'm not in the mood to do anything now.
all i wanna do is to start eating, start receiving ang pow and start wasting time by doing nothing at home or house visiting.
i got the whole week of the 19th off. which means i could get up as late as i could everyday, except the 1st day of CNY. and figure out what to eat, where to lepak, who to waste my time with for the whole week.
but my date with Johan Gielen is definitely in the book. top priority. 2nd priority is Everybody Loves Irene. wow ! i luv trip hop.

singles Valentine

got this sms from Laundry

party with like minded singles who knows how to have a great time. free cocktail for the 1st 100 singles. this wed fr 9pm onwards.

macam bagus je. heh.

HP inter-action

live transmission from sg, taiwan, korea, hk and lastly malaysia. maison, the 18yrs old and above place, instead of 21yrs old and above. but the 18++ only comes out after the HP party, cause they are a hardcore of Urban Republic which is governed by dj goldfish.

1st live transmission from sg MOS - fucking dnb with hip hop. awesome to the brink !
2nd - taiwan at Luxy - lovely place with lovely partypeople and music. duo dj with one double-up as a drummer. flawless ! started with some chinese traditional music sound like er-hu and pumped it up with hip hop. one scratching and another hitting the drum. perfect combination.
3rd - korea - 2 rappers doing the thang with the interlude of heaps of street and break dance.
4th- our beloved too phat. lotsa new and also old tracks.
ended with HK rock band - which i kinda missed it because calls were coming in and people either start making their way to GH or busy bringing their friends in for UR.

i was supposed to go over to GH but was cancelled at the very last minute because friends want to hang out at UR in order to check out the 18++ gals. heh.
tipsy tipsy and i have to say that hangover is a bitch and don't go too full-swing on a weekday.

indie-licious & backstage sluts

damn i was late for that, missed a few bands i supposed. silly me got the starting time mixed up.
only managed to catch 3 bands.
crosstown traffic - didn't strike me that hard cause i only manage to catch half of their performance.
project ei8ht - one of the guitarist has a lime green transparent electric guitar. very eye-catching. liked one of their new track '1226' , slow & emo.
IG collective - the 'bermuda pants crew'. all band members were in bermuda pants except the drummer and the guest vocalist (they insisted that since they are known as IG collective, so they always have a collective of guest appearances). a gal vocalist by the name of Prima , she kinda reminds me of some live bands where you normally get in hotels' pub rocking some radio hit pop songs. besides that, her vocals kinda makes their songs become a little not-so indie. on top of that, the way she tried to stirred up the crowd by getting them to sing along with her kinda turned me off. (not for an indie gig). there's a song called 'Justin' , is a mockery to Justin Timberlake. before that, one of the guitarist said this impulsively ' we all FUCKING hate Justin Timberlake' .
when it comes to music, everything is becoming very subjective. i seriously didn't see a point in despising any type of music or musician.
i had to go after this band. to my 2nd round for Backstage Sluts.

3 guys from UK. late twenties or early thirties. rocking the deck with the usual stuff like GA's 'superstylin' , Nirvana's 'smells like teen spirits', 7 nations army's, lotsa Beastie Boys like 'you've got the right to party' & lotsa prodigy. the one that really blew me away, as in i've never thought that it could blend together so fine :
smack my bitch up vs somebody told me.
wow. basket. things gone a bit downhill towards the end. especially the last few minutes. was it because they were exhausted ? (coz they never stop 'slutting' with the crowd by walking on the dj console, jumping up and down at the podium, etc ). i remembered there's once they cut off a track abruptly and play the next one, so it sounded very weird cause the flow was cut off for a few seconds. but overall i think they manage to deliver what 'malaysian clubber' wants - nothing underground, nothing old skol.

the last juror by john grisham

i seriously didn't expect such a sad and emotional ending. till i wet the last few pages of the book. mr grisham had somehow gripped my emotions and excitement from the beginning till the end with a quite surprising ending, strong storyline & vivid story-telling skill.
damn, my mind is in a state of post-roller-coaster-ride now.
heaps of work tomorrow and i cant really put my restless mind and head to sleep. which means another dizzy and zzzly monday.thanks to john grisham.
i somehow admire the power of journalism in that book ( if you know how the 'journalism' works in malaysia).
it should speaks from the point of view of the citizen.
truth and nothing but the truth.

Jaga Jazzist for MMF 2007 S'pore

live is perfect after all !

KL Jam Asia & Randy Katana

friday night couldn't be better with indie rock & dance music !
1st round was at Jam Asia, started off with

furniture - about 7 band members from guitars to trumpet. pretty experimental, but the sound of trumpet was hardly audible. what a waste !

etc - all the way from sg, 3 band mates from caucasian, indian to chinese. pretty diversed huh. vocalist has a pretty good voice. the music kinda sounds abit like Explosions in the Sky, especially the last few songs.

azmyl yunor & the sigarettes - pretty interesting vocalist/front-man they have. he can sing and talk equally good. their malay songs are pretty good as well.

couple - pretty popular in the local indie scene. they have very steady stage perfomance. started off with one of my fav track 'Rock n Roll' (can be found in Junk's compilations). the rest of the songs they sang was pretty emo.

ferns - i suppose they are the headliner ! their music is getting very good response from people of Myspace and Rolling Stones. sorry dude i only manage to catch the few first songs because i need to rush off to my 2nd round. but hey, i can listen always to your CD. (check out their CD titled 'Botany' with a green patch of fake grasses on the cover)

it was so so much packer than the previous Friday. we could hardly see the stage towards the end of the gig, and the place just got warmer and warmer. and the prices of drink that night actually got hiked up ! i wonder how, i wonder why.

i left at abt 12 to randy katana. he has already pumped up the crowd when i got there. it wasn't too packed. lotsa shufflers and hard dance enthusiasts. he played plenty of super classic & old skol trance track. as usual i was layan-ing at my usual spot with the usual crowd. i did swing by twilight in between but only to find out that i dig RK more than twilight, well at least on that night ;-p

it was such an enjoyable night that i slept like a baby till the next morning.
